RBT Practice Exam 2026 – Comprehensive Exam Prep

Stimulus fading is an instructional technique where a specific characteristic or physical dimension of a stimulus is gradually reduced or removed over time. This allows the learner to focus on other important features of the stimulus and helps them to generalize their learning to new stimuli. Option A is incorrect because maintaining a constant level of stimulus is not the ultimate goal of stimulus fading. It is simply a way to gradually decrease the intensity of a stimulus. Option B is incorrect because stimulus fading is not about introducing a new stimulus every session, but rather gradually fading out a specific aspect of a stimulus. Option C is incorrect because reducing the stimulus to its original intensity is not the only goal of stimulus fading. The ultimate goal is to help learners focus on and generalize their learning to new stimuli.
